Creative Smiles: Smile Make-Over Case Gallery

This young Gentleman from Belfast came to see us as he was unhappy with his smile.  Our practice had been highly recommended to him by two of his family members who had smile improvements carried out at Creative Smiles and he was very impressed with their results!

He disliked everything about his smile and wanted a new one.  The overall colour and gap between the two front teeth as well as the right hand side were just some of the many concerns to him.

After discussing all the available options with our patient, we decided to initially fit an upper removable brace to bring in the upper right central incisor tooth.  As you can see from the side view photograph it sat very far out of alignment.  While the brace was working we restored some old fillings and had to carry out root canal treatment on some of the teeth also.  It is important to get the conservative treatment carried out so that we are basing the new smile on good foundations!

Once all the remedial work was carried out  we used our Zoom 2 AP Power Whitening System to brighten the colour of the overall smile.  

We then used the art of smile design to plan our patient’s new smile! 

We replaced all the old crowns with new high quality crowns and placed a bridge on the upper right hand side to fill in the gap  to complete the smile make-over! 

As you can see from the photographs the results were fantastic!  This Gentleman is now much more confident with dealing with clients and wished he had completed the treatment a long time ago!  He said it has made a very positive impact on his life!

Smile Make-Over

This Gentleman from Lisburn came to see us as he was unhappy with his smile.  His job involved being in the public eye so he wanted to be more confident when dealing with clients.

He disliked that his teeth were all different colours and the very dark appearance of his upper right lateral incisor tooth really annoyed him.  He felt that his old crowns did not match in with his natural teeth anymore and black lines around the gum-lines were becoming more noticeable over time. 

After discussing all the available options with our patient, we decided to initially whiten the teeth using our Zoom 2 AP Power Whitening System and replace both the Upper right central incisor and upper left lateral incisor crowns with new high quality crowns.  We also placed a crown on the upper left 2nd pre-molar tooth as this had a large black filling it it so to improve the appearance as well as strengthen this tooth, a crown was the ideal solution here.   Porcelain veneers were placed on The upper right lateral incisor and upper left central incisor teeth also to complete the smile make-over! 

As you can see from the photographs the results were fantastic!  This Gentleman is now much more confident with dealing with clients and wished he had completed the treatment a long time ago!

‘ABB’ Align, Bleach & Bond

Another Top Result Using ABB at Creative Smiles in just 6 Months!

This young lady from Belfast came to see us at Creative Smiles as she hated the prominance of her upper right lateral incisor tooth.  She was also concerned that both of her central incisor teeth looked short in length as opposed to her lateral incisor teeth.  She was not happy with the colour of her teeth.     She was unhappy and aware of  her teeth all of the time especially when looking in the mirror and getting her photograph taken.  This was having a knock-on affect on her confidence.
We carried out an in-depth assessment of our patient and spent time with her discussing all her available options in great detail.  After discussing the options we decided to Align her teeth with a Brace, Bleach then Bond.
The Inman Aligner brace was fitted to align the teeth as this young lady wanted a brace that would work fast and could be removed to eat and clean her teeth.
The Teeth were Whitened on completion of the alignment process using Home Tray Whitening.
The Smile Make-over was completed by using a technique called ‘Cosmetic Bonding’ to reshape, contour and lengthen the front central incisor teeth to create a more balanced smile!
This Treatment took just under 6 months.  How powerful is the concept of ABB!
Resulting in another Happy, Confident individual who no longer dreads having her photograph taken!

This young lady came to Creative Smiles with concerns that her smile was uneven and that her upper teeth were crowded. She was getting married in 6 months time so wanted a tooth straightening treatment that would be completed within that time.

After her orthodontic consultation with Mr. Gilbert she decided to have a Fixed Appliance with Tooth Coloured Brackets fitted on her Upper Arch. On completion of the tooth straightening she decided to compliment her new smile with Home Whitening.

Latest Update on Dental Whitening

Tooth Whitening is the most common cosmetic dental procedure. On the National and Regional news recently tooth whitening has been a hot topic for discussion. Thousands of people have their teeth whitened every year in High Streets and shopping centres, by staff with no formal dental training. The General Dental Council are calling for tougher controls on who is allowed to carry out tooth whitening in the UK.

The General Dental Council is an organisation that regulates Dental Professionals in the UK. Their purpose is to protect the public, and they do this by registering qualified professionals, setting standards of dental practice and conduct, assuring the quality of dental education, ensuring professionals keep up-to-date, helping patients with complaints and working to strengthen patient protection.

After complaints about poor treatment, the council says teeth whitening is a dental procedure so only dental professionals should administer it.
However, teeth-whitening companies say it is a cosmetic not dental process.
A non- dental professional has no knowledge of dental disease and cannot diagnose any problems in patients that could potentially have a detrimental effect to their teeth if they carry out the whitening. Common complaints are stripping of the enamel, whitening of the gums, extreme sensitivity and in some cases teeth becoming yellow instead of white! At Creative Smiles we have seen some of the these complaints from patients who have had their teeth whitened on the High Street.
The General Dental Council successfully prosecuted the director of a national chain of tooth-whitening salons in March this year – and is warning it will bring similar proceedings in the future. Its view is supported by the Department of Health, which says tooth whitening should be performed by a suitably trained and competent dentist or dental-care professional.
At Creative Smiles we appreciate that tooth whitening is a very beneficial treatment. We will gladly discuss individual needs and expectations. We can only advise our patients of the safest options for tooth whitening. It is a very simple and effective treatment when carried out by qualified registered dental professionals.

An Interesting Trauma Case at Creative Smiles!

Here you will see from the photographs an interesting Trauma Case treated with both Orthodontics and a combination of High Quality Porcelain Restorations!

This Gentleman came to Creative Smiles after Sustaining Trauma to his Upper Front Teeth.
Due to the extent of the Trauma his Upper Left Lateral Incisor Tooth (right side on photograph, 2nd tooth along) had to be removed leaving a gap.  His other front teeth were broken and discoloured due to nerve damage resulting from the trauma also.  This patient had protruding teeth to begin with which he was constantly aware therefore self conscious of so instead of just restoring the broken teeth resulting from the trauma, we suggested to take this prime opportunity to treat the protruding teeth and utilise the space produced by the missing lateral incisor tooth in order to achieve this!
The Front Six Teeth were retracted using an upper removable brace which brought them onto their natural position.
Whitening was carried out after alignment.
The case was then finished using a Combination of  High Quality Porcelain Crowns, Veneers and Bridgework to restore the discoloured and poorly shaped anterior teeth!

The Art Of Smile Design using Porcelain Veneers

 SMILE DESIGN  MAKE-OVER AT CREATIVE SMILES!

 This lovely lady came to see us at Creative Smiles extremely self conscious about her smile.  She felt that her teeth looked too small and she showed too much gum.  She was mostly aware of her smile when talking to people, so much so she covered her mouth with her hand and would never attempt to smile in a photograph!
We got to work on designing a new smile for our patient!
Porcelain Veneers alone here would not change the Gum Levels that she was so concerned about so we had to organise for a Minor Gum Surgery Procedure to be carried out on the front 6 Teeth to decrease the gum level height to give the teeth more length and character.  While the Gum Surgery was healing, all the teeth were whitened using  our Zoom 2 AP Power Whitening System (completed in one hour). 
Each stage of this Smile Make-over was carefully planned between our Dentist Mr Gilbert and The Technician/Artist at our Dental Laboratory with the use of state of the art Dental Photography, Smile Design Models and Equipment.  This meant that on the day of preparation of the front 6 teeth, our patient was leaving with Temporary Veneers placed that were based on the end result, so she knew EXACTLY what the end result was going to be!!  This in- between stage between preparation and fitting is known as ‘the Trail Smile’ .  It means nothing is left to chance!  We often find a lot of our patient’s wanting to know why they cannot keep their trail smile and do they actually have to have them taken off for the Permanent Veneers to be fitted!! 
Once Mr Gilbert and our patient was happy with her ‘Trial Smile’ we then gave our Technician the go ahead to make the permanent Veneers with High Quality Porcelain.  These were then fitted just over 2 weeks after the teeth were prepared.  We used Cosmetic Bonding on both the Upper 1st Pre-Molar Teeth to bring them into the Smile more to finish off the makeover!
Since the Smile Make-over this lady has given us so much positive feedback.  It has been a life changing experience for her.  She bought her family a portrait seating as a gift and had the confidence to join them in getting a photograph taken (with her mouth open).  She looked, and more importantly felT amazing!  She has also had the confidence to go for a new job (which she was successful at getting) and her boyfriend says he is dating a new woman!

ABB ‘Align Bleach & Bond’

Another Top Result Using ABB at Creative Smiles in just 6 Months!
 
This Young Gentleman from Carryduff came to Creative Smiles concerned about the alignment, colour and shape of his teeth.  He had chipped a few teeth also.   He was generally  unhappy with his smile, and was beginning to become aware of his teeth all the time.  This was having a knock-on affect on his confidence.  He had initially been looking into having Dental Veneers placed.
We examined the patient and spent time with him discussing all his available options in great detail.  Dental Veneers were an option here but after discussing the risks and the benefits to the patient and the other alternatives which were to use his own teeth, Align them with a brace, Bleach then Bond we decided alongside the patient to take a very conservative approach to treating this case by using ABB. 
Initially a removable brace was fitted to align the upper teeth into position.  This patient was suitable for either Fixed Appliances (train tracks) Invisalign (virtually invisible clear brace) or the Inman Aligner.  The Patient liked the idea of the Inman Aligner the most due to it’s speed and the fact that he could remove it for work purposes as he deals with the public a lot with his particular job.
The Teeth were Whitened on completion of the alignment process using Home Tray Whitening.
The case was then finished by using a technique called ‘Cosmetic Bonding’ to repair the unsightly chips and reshape and contour the front teeth to complete the Smile Makeover!
This Treatment took approximately 6 months.  How powerful is the concept of ABB!
