A Creative Smiles Patient Journey... My teeth were a very sensitive issue for me, it was really important to find someone I could trust and who was not afraid to help me. A genetic disorder meant that I lost and had to have teeth removed. This impacted on my daily life and confidence. Previous dentists did not want or have the experience to provide me with the teeth I had always dreamed and wished for until now. Case Study
The following case from Creative Smiles has recently been presented to the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry by Mr Gilbert. This gentleman presented with gaps in his teeth and a midline shift (front top central teeth not centrally placed, off to one side). This was due to his upper left canine tooth (third tooth along) not erupting (never came into his mouth) . Upon further assessment and screening by means of x-rays and scans, Mr Gilbert found the missing canine tooth to be lying up in his palate, under the gum, which needed to be removed to allow placement of a dental implant. The patient wore a removable brace for a few months in order to move both his front teeth together and also to open the spaces at the sides more, in order to give the space required to place restorations that would provide the best aesthetic result. Tooth whitening was carried out prior to placement of a dental implant to replace the upper left canine tooth. A fixed bridge was placed on the upper right 1st pre-molar (4th tooth along) to provide a porcelain unit for the missing upper right 2nd pre-molar tooth (5th tooth along) This case took approximately 1 year to complete.

Case Study
The following case from Creative Smiles has recently been presented to the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry by Mr Gilbert. This young female patient had teeth extracted for braces many years ago but did not then proceed with the proposed orthodontic treatment at that time, therefore leaving her with large gaps. She had been wearing a removable denture for 5 years to mask the gaps which she disliked very much and wanted a more permanent fixture to replace her two missing teeth. She was also keen to have her upper teeth re-aligned. Mr Gilbert started by placing a fixed aesthetic brace on the top teeth. The brace consisted of tooth coloured wires and brackets as she wished to have a brace that would look as discreet as possible. This started the re-alignment process of the upper teeth. The brace was also used to open up additional space so that Mr Gilbert could create enough room for her fixed permanent solution, by means of 2 dental implants. The alignment process took approximately 7 months to complete. During this time Mr Gilbert placed 2 dental implants. The area on the left hand side required additional build up of bone to ensure a secure dental implant site so he could guarantee longevity. All of the teeth were whitened prior to shade matching the final implant crowns. The patient now also wears a permanent retainer behind her teeth to ensure that they will not move out of alignment again. This case took one year in total to complete.
